As a 33-year-old being on the tools for just over half my life and now co-owning a fire compliance software company, you can imagine the experience I can bring to the table as an engineer. Now, I also have the technical skills to build software that is truly made with an engineers perspective. Over time I have learnt first hand what works and what doesn’t. I want to share how I can help your company be more productive and get recurring revenue with Fire Compliance Software by OPTI Compliance
Enhancing productivity is a common challenge for business owners managing their workforce, so let’s start there.
It's crazy to me how different industries can be so parallel but very different at the same. For example, fire door inspections and BA (Breathing Apparatus) inspections in the gas industry. While they serve distinct purposes, both are critical for saving lives and rely on thorough checklists to ensure safety. Despite their differences, both often face common challenges within their respective inspection processes.
If I had a penny for every time I inspected my BA and found it failing compliance due to environmental factors like mud, I’d be on more holidays a year, that's for sure!
But working with design partners in the industry, I know they have checked a fire doors gap a million times over. What am I getting at? They both fail regularly over and over on the same faults.
According to the Fire Door Inspection Scheme (FDIS), 75% of fire doors failed inspections between 2019 and 2021, and gaps were one of the most common reasons for failure: FDIS Common Reason
Having to write a defect every time you see a gap that’s too big, is bound to get tedious, so why not have it ready to select? Simply hit the “Fail” checkbox, which prompts you to take a picture for evidence. In the fail description box—“Oh look!”—there it is, ready to select: door gap too big.
Imagine this on a much larger scale for other inspections. I’m sure you can think of a few examples. Humans are creatures of habit, and so are our assessments. So, what is Fire Compliance Software by OPTI going to do about it? We’ll provide pre-populated failure remarks, while also giving you the flexibility to create and customize your own failure remarks. To top it off, all remarks would be global for all of your company to use; saving everyone time! An area that your current software or Microsoft forms, word and excel may not do.
Does It Stop There? Of Course Not.
Write-ups are tedious. After 8 hours of inspections, can you imagine the downtime added when you still have to create a detailed report? You don’t get paid per report you get paid per assessment, right? Your employees that work 9-to-5 aren’t going to stay up all night writing reports just to be ready for more inspections the next day.
So, how does Fire Compliance Software by OPTI solve this problem? A dynamic report system that pre-populates reports - cutting your write up time in half (or more). This allows you to fit in additional assessments, directly driving more revenue.
Recurring Revenue and Compliance Scheduling
Another common phenomenon in compliance is it’s highly periodic. Inspections need to be done daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, biannually, and annually. Keeping track of every client, every asset, and every date manually? That’s an overwhelming and prone to error process.
Imagine the time it takes to build a spreadsheet for all that data. With Fire Compliance Software by OPTI’s built-in client inspections table already set up on the dashboard , there’s no need for Excel skills. Our system tracks due dates, sends notifications, and ensures no client slips through the cracks! You’ll know when an inspection is due, giving you time to schedule it. This approach not only boosts recurring revenue by locking in future work but also improves productivity with better planning.
